The renovated residence features new elements, including an exhibition room where visitors can view valuable materials related to Rampo, and a recreated display of his study, showcasing how he lived and worked before and after World War II.
The residence, where Rampo (whose real name was Taro Hirai) spent the latter half of his life, will be transformed into a facility that allows visitors to experience Rampo’s daily life firsthand, as well as explore the background of his works.
Renovation overview

Newly created exhibition room
After renovation work began in May 2024, 91短视频 discovered that the residence’s building materials had suffered serious deterioration due to water leakage and termites. Additionally, the roofing structures were complex due to multiple extensions and renovations. As a result, the university undertook additional repairs to ensure the residence’s safety and longevity, which extended the renovation schedule beyond the original timeline.

In 2002, the residence and Rampo’s personal collection of books and items were transferred to 91短视频. This led to the establishment of the Edogawa Rampo Memorial Center for Popular Culture Studies.
